This 2.5 hour seminar is on APEGA’s expectations for Permit Holders and Responsible Members. Responsible Members must attend a Permit to Practice seminar within six months of being added as a Responsible Member, and then at least once every five years.
This seminar covers:
- Permit to Practice administration
- How to create and maintain a professional practice management plan
- The roles and responsibilities of a Responsible Member
- APEGA’s discipline and enforcement process
Saumya (Sam) Barua, P.Eng., MBA, has practised engineering for over 35 years in North America, South America, Middle-East, South-East Asia and South Asia. Over the past decade he has delivered major projects as a Mechanical Engineer and Engineering Manager in Alberta's Oil Sands for Suncor, Syncrude, Shell, Husky, and TransCanada.
As an Engineering Manager in Amec Foster Wheeler, SNC-Lavalin Inc., WSP Canada Inc., and a former member of APEGA's Practice Review Board, Sam brings in unique hands-on experience of being a Responsible Member (RM) and a reviewer of Professional Practice Management Plan (PPMP) documents. Sam is currently the Assistant Director of Enforcement in APEGA's Regulatory group helping to oversee Compliance and Discipline Portfolios and was the recipient of Outstanding Mentor of the Year Award from APEGA in 2015.
